Hosam Alagi and Prof. Björn Hein organize the 2nd "Proximity Perception" workshop at IEEE/RSJ IROS 2019 in Macao

On November 8, our colleagues Hosam Alagi und Prof. Björn Hein organized the second workshop on "Proximity Perception in Robotics" at the 2019 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Macao.

With this workshop, they wanted to further build up the community of "Proximity Perception".

The objectives of the workshops were:

- Further strengthening the community working on "Proximity Perception".
- Introducing the field of "Proximity Perception" to a general robotics audience.
- Bridging from Tactile Perception to Proximity Perception.
- Providing a forum for the community to exchange ideas and knowledge as well as establishing new collaborations with researchers and industrial partners.

The list of speakers included Prof. Nikolaus Correll (University of Colorado at Boulder), Prof. Jelizaveta Konstantinova (Queen Mary University of London, Ocado Technology), Prof. Frédéric Boyer (IMT Atlantique Bretagne-Pays de la Loire Ecole Mines-Telecom), Prof. Akihiko Yamaguchi (Tohoku University), Dr. Hansruedi Früh (F&P Robotics), Dr. Norbert Druml (Infineon Technologies AG) and Dr. Vincent Lebastard (IMT Atlantique Bretagne-Pays de la Loire Ecole Mines-Telecom).
