Because of the complex anatomy of the lateral skull base containing many critical structures the surgeon has to define preoperatively the surgical access path very precisely. It has to be a collision-free operation passage for manual or robot-assisted instrument guidance. The main research topic of this project is to create multi-angular miniaturized operation channels to the surgical target region in the lateral skull base for image guided surgery. This approach aims to advance the endoscopic guided minimal atraumatic surgery technology.
