IPR at the AUTOMATICA 2012
On the 22nd – 25th May 2012, the IPR was represented with the mobile service robot at this year’s 6th international exhibition for automation and mechatronics (AUTOMATICA ) in Munich.
The AUTOMATICA is the international meeting point for automation and the biggest robotics trade fair worldwide. At the group stand “Innovationsplattform Servicerobotik” in Hall B3, visitors could gather information about current products and news in the service robotic field, both about the industrial and the private domain. At the cooperation-stand of SCHUNK and the KIT/IPR, a demonstrator for new and innovative concepts for telemanipulation und visualization was exhibited by Prof. Dr.-Ing Björn Hein and Michael Mende. Also partial autonomous object grasping was demonstrated.
During the telemanipulation process, the operator is supported by augmented reality and the control of the manipulator is designed in an intuitive manner, using novel concepts. Online collision detection and latency independent feedback allow for a more secure handling of the robot.
