„Russia and Germany – Partnership of Ideas“ (2012 – 2014)

The BMBF established in 2006 the initiative “Werbung für den Innovationsstandort Deutschland” under the brand „Research in Germany – Land of Ideas“ for a consistent description of Germany, as a the center of education, of research and of innovation abroad. Within this context the BMBF realized country- and issue-specific campaigns. At the beginning of 2012 starts (next to the German-Russian year of education, science and innovation which started on the 23th of March, 2011)a country campaign Russia themed „Russia and Germany – Partnership of Ideas“. The campaign will run for 2 years.
It will continue the momentum of the Year of Science and make a contribution to the enduring visibility of German leading research and technology in Russia.
Intermediate term aims of the campaign are the initiation of cooperation between German and Russian research facilities and highly innovative companies, new cooperation in the field of professional training (vocational training and continuous vocational training) and further exchange of knowledge between both countries, also in view of economic cooperation.
4 key aspects were defined: Nanotechnology, Environmental Technology/ Energy efficiency, ICT for Health (e-Health) and Optical Technology.
There is a promotional competition from August until September to choose a network/Cluster that will be supported by the BMBF for 24 months as an ambassador for the campaign for the implementation of the marketing actions in Russia. The networks should show the entire supply chain (min. 3 partners, min. 1 small and medium-sized company, min. 1 research facility). The involvement of providers of professional training is required. Also in the Year of Science, innovation is one of the main topics. With the support of the BMBF several innovation forums shall take place until the end of May. Planned are multi-day events with the aim to prepare sustainable innovation partnerships between Germany and Russia in the fields of Biotechnology/Life Sciences, Medical Technology, ICT and Production Technology.
